The Féile Liú Lúnasa Crowdfunder has ten days to go and has already raised 30% of the desired £2000. The organisers are looking across the Irish Sea to friends and supporters in Scotland to help them reach their target.
Learners and speakers of Scottish Gaelic are warmly invited to attend the festival too.
The organiser of the Crowdfunded is Naoise Ó Cairealláin, a student at NUI Galway who is also involved in the 2015/16 organising committee of the Association of Celtic Students of Ireland and Britain.
Naoise describes the weekend event taking place in Belfast at An Cultúrlann on the 28-29 August as:
“A new alternative festival for Gaeilge that has been organised by young Gaels volunteering their time in order to strengthen community ties and to promote music, new bands and the Arts in Irish.”
“Music is of great importance in the revival of minority languages but so too is the learning of Gaeilge which is why we are running an intensive Irish course thus ensuring that the language will be more accessible for the next generation.”
The event was recently highlighted in the Irish language NÓS magazine and Irish news agency Tuairisc:
